Bhubaneswar: The home voting process for the upcoming Nuapada Assembly by-election commenced today and will continue until November 2.

According to reports, a total of 15 polling teams have been deployed to facilitate voting at the residences of eligible voters. Each team comprises two polling officers, one micro-observer, one security personnel, and one videographer.

The facility is available to 251 voters, including those aged 85 years and above, as well as differently-abled individuals with over 40% disability. These voters will cast their ballots secretly through postal ballots from the comfort of their homes. To ensure transparency in the voting process, videography will be conducted throughout, said Returning Officer Surmi Soren.

District Collector has directed all appointed officials to ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of this facility.

In a related development, commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units has been completed for all 358 polling booths in the Nuapada Assembly constituency. The three-day process, held from October 27 to 29 at the local National College, was conducted under the direct supervision of District Collector-cum-District Election Officer.
