Bhubaneswar: A sanitation worker of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has garnered praise for honesty. Puja Rani Singh found a gold chain worth Rs 3 lakh in the garbage and returned it to its owner.
Puja was felicitated by the civic body for the honest deed. She found the gold chain while at work at the Micro Composting Center (MCC).
Chandrashekhar Sethi of Chandrashekharpur area in Bhubaneswar has been identified as original owner of the chain. The owner of the chain is a lawyer by profession.
He had kept the chain on the flowers for puja and forgotten about it. Sethi expressed gratitude to the woman sanitation worker and said that the act was exemplary.
The BMC stated: “People like her are rare and an inspiration to many”.
A tweet on BMC’s official handle stated: “BMC Commissioner & Addl Comm-III felicitated Mrs Puja Singh one of the #SwachhaSaathi for her act of #nobleness, who found a gold chain at work in MCC centre while handling garbage & returned it to the original possessor. People like her are rare and an #inspiration to many.”
