Bhawanipatna: The Kalahandi police on Wednesday arrested the accused in a spine-chilling incident of honour killing in which two minors (a boy and a girl) were brutally killed.
The minor boy was from Banjipadar village under Dharmagarh police limits was in love with a girl for about two years. The family of the minor was supporting the relationship, while the family of the girl was against it.
On June 30, the duo left home and were hiding in an abandoned mill in Gotguda village. On hearing the news, the girl’s father Kaneshwar Patel with his brother, reached the hideout. After strangling the two lovers, Patel hung them from a tree to mislead the police, the police stated.
Later he filed a missing complaint with the police for his daughter. And subsequently the bodies were recovered. However, on the basis of a complaint lodged by the minor boy’s father, police launched an investigation and zeroed in on the honour killing angle.
Three persons were arrested in this connection – Patel, his son-in-law Sundar Naik, and brother Debananda. They were forwarded to the court and the body of the deceased were sent for autopsy.
