Rayagada: In a spine-chilling incident, the district police today retrieved the skeleton of a youth who had allegedly been murdered three months ago over love affairs and as an act of honour killing.
While the deceased youth has been identified as one Manoranjan Baliarsingh, the arrested accused had shot him dead then. Later, they had clandestinely buried him inside a remote cave in the dense forest of Andhalima under Chandrapur Police Station (PS) limits here in the district.
Besides seizing the skeleton, police have arrested Raghunath Bhatta of Panakabadi village under Gudari PS limits, Nakul Dandsena of Sindhipanga village under Bissamcuttack PS limits and Ganeshwar Sahu of Hanumantpur village under Chandrapur PS limits.
A scientific team led by SP Dr. Sarban Vivek M and other police staff had rushed to the spot and initiated investigation.
Police informed that, the murdered youth hailed from Kotgad of Kandhamal district and was in love with the sister of accused Nakul Dandsena following which the Dandsena family got incensed and strongly objected to it. Notwithstanding that, lover boy Manoranjan Baliarsingh used to come over to the village very often. Peeved at such a development, Nakul decided to bump him off for which a plot was hatched along with the other two accomplices.
As per the conspiracy, the three accused had persuaded the murdered youth to 30 km far Andhalia jungle. They first shot him dead with a hunter gun and had cut the body with a sharp weapon. Later on, they all buried the body inside a jungle cave.
When murdered Manoranjan did not return his native place for so many days, his elder brother Niranjan Baliarsingh lodged a missing complaint with the Bissamcuttack police on September 18. During the course of investigation, the fatal secret could be unravelled.
All the three arrested have been forwarded to court while further investigation is still on, the district police said.
