Angul: Three people were killed in the last two days after reportedly drinking adulterated country liquor (mahula wine) in Patharagada village under Puruna Court police limits in Angul district.
The deceased have been identified as Kaira Pradhan (20), Tukuna Pradhan (30) and Sashibhusan Dehury (32).
As per reports, the deceased trio was part of a group employed at a house construction site. After finishing their work yesterday, Kaira, Tukuna and Sashibhusan partook mahula wine.
Within a few hours, Kaira fell ill and passed away. In a similar manner, Tukuna too passed away late at night. In a very critical condition, Sashibhusan was admitted to District Headquarter Hospital (DHH), Angul. Today morning, he too breathed his last.
Basudev Pradhan, also from the same village, is also reported to be seriously ill.
It is being suspected that the deaths are because of the adulterated liquor.
In this regard, OMMCOM NEWS tried to reach out to the district excise officer Ramendra Nayak. Nayak informed that there has been no formal complaint in this matter and that he can only comment on further investigation.
