**Bhubaneswar: ** While the three-tier Panchayat Polls are scheduled to be held in Odisha next year, the ruling BJD seems to be overconfident of sweeping the grassroots level elections making its political bête noire bite the dust completely this time.
Talking to media, BJD vice president and party spokesperson Surya Narayan Patra said, “I hope Congress and BJP will score nil this time”.
Elaborating on it, Patra claimed, “As per information available with me, not a single candidate of the two parties will come out victorious. I’m so optimistic. Last time we had 85% of the total seats in our favour, this time it will go up to 90-95% barring stray rural pockets”.
Another spokesperson of the ruling party Dibya Sankar Mishra said, “The Panchayat Elections slated in February 2017. BJD will contest all the Zilla Parishad seats. Party supremo and Chief Minister has shown us the ways and means in what way we could retain all Zilla Parishads so that the ongoing rural development spree of the State Government would be further accelerated. All our Biju lovers and BJD workers have also been infused with the mantra of success”.
On the other hand, BJP leader Samir Mohanty alleged, “The State Government is found paying no heed to the recommendations of State Election Commission. However, we’ve decided to raise voice against and lodge our complaints on the discrepancies relating to the upcoming Panchayat polls soon”.
