**Bhubaneswar:** Addressing the media at Naveen Niwas after returning from his weeklong New Delhi visit on Sunday morning Chief Minister said, “I made the suggestion that Ahimsa or non-violence should be included in the preamble of the Constitution as a mark of respect to Mahtma Gandhi. I am certainly very hopeful about my proposal”.
The Odisha CM was in New Delhi to attend the meeting for planning celebrations to mark 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Earlier on May 2, the CM had laid stress on including the Indian ideal of ‘Ahimsa’ (Non-Violence) in the Preamble of our Constitution as a mark of India’s greatest tribute to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary in 2019.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik batted for it at the first ever high level preparatory meeting convened by Government of India on the commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi next year across our nation, as per media reports.
