Jajpur death

Keonjhar: As part of the age-old practice of branding kids in the supposed belief that it will bring back the dead person to life, the parents of a girl child branded the little girl after her death.

The incident took place at Purandapur village under Turamunga police limits in Keonjhar district.

According to sources, Lipi and Itishree, two daughters of Tankadhar Maharana of Purandapur village were suffering from diarrhoea. They were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital after their condition worsened. Itishree died on her way to the hospital while Lipi died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Tankadhar and his family members reportedly branded their younger daughter to bring her back to life.

Upon being informed, police reached the village and launched a probe into the matter.
