Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted that the hot weather and heat wave will prevail in some districts of Odisha for four days. “The current meteorological condition indicates that there will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during the next four days and thereafter there will be a slight fall in temperature at many places over the districts of Odisha,” the IMD mid-day bulletin forecasted.

The maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 4°C – 7°C at a few places over the districts of Odisha during the next four days. Consequently, hot and discomfort weather is likely during the next 4-5 days and people are advised to take precautionary measures like avoiding heat exposure, keeping cool, and avoiding dehydration while going outside during day time between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm.

The IMD has issued an orange warning for the heat wave to severe heat wave at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Cuttack, Khordha, and Nayagarh on Friday.

Heat wave condition is also likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri on Friday.

An orange alert has also been issued for Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, and Sonepur districts on Saturday, while a yellow warning has been issued for heat wave conditions in Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Nuapada, and Mayurbhanj on Saturday.
