In a video shared with OMMCOM NEWS, Dr Nikita highlighted few tips on how to not gain weight while sitting at home, looking at this in a positive way and doing things one couldn’t do before.

Improve your food timings

You had a busy schedule earlier and couldn’t pay attention to or take care of yourself, but now you can work on improving your food timings so when you come out of the lockdown you would have a better routine in place.

Get enough sleep

You should get enough sleep of at least seven to nine hours. Good rest is the key to a restored, healthy, healed body.

Work on your water intake

Keep yourself hydrated. You should drink water every one or two hours through the day and drink at least two to three litres of water in a day.

Exercise is very important. Wake up early and try to get some half an hour or one hour of exercise into your routine. You can use fitness apps or channels or take a skipping rope or do 10 to 12 rounds of Surya Namaskar to keep you active. Don’t seat on the couch for more than one or two hours, get up, walk for one or two minutes, make be do some squats on the spot.

Work on home cooked meals

You have to avoid eating out or ordering food and focus on home cooked food. If you are free and not working from home then try your hand at various recipes. Otherwise make some easy stuff such as immunity boosting juices like orange juice or lemon juice or enjoy your masala tea, ginger tea which are great for boosting your immunity.

If you are constantly thinking about what to eat, you can have healthy snacks such as smoothies, rolls, homemade chaat, sprouts, pancakes, etc. And also eat fruits between your meals. Don’t overeat. If you keep yourself occupied you are not going to be constantly thinking about food so this way you will not gain weight. Stay home, stay safe.
