Bhubaneswar: The Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department, under the leadership of Principal Secretary Usha Padhee, has initiated a comprehensive review of waterlogging issues across all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
In a decisive meeting, Padhee emphasized the importance of immediate response and proactive measures to address water logging concerns, especially during the monsoon season.
Padhee highlighted the critical need for effective water management systems and stressed the role of community partnerships in tackling water logging issues.
“Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents by providing an immediate and efficient response to any water logging concerns. We are committed to leveraging the collective efforts of Team Urban to address these issues promptly,” said Padhee.
Padhee reviewed the actions taken as per earlier sop issued by the department through VC and asked for the Establishment of dedicated rapid response teams in each ULB to monitor and address water logging incidents promptly. Upgradation and maintenance of existing drainage systems to prevent water accumulation and ensure smooth water flow, involving local communities in identifying vulnerable areas and reporting water logging issues through a dedicated helpline and mobile application.Inter-departmental Coordination, Strengthening coordination between various departments to ensure a unified approach in managing water logging challenges.
The H&UD Department has urged residents to cooperate with the initiatives and report any water logging incidents immediately.
The department has assured that all necessary steps are being taken to safeguard the community from the adverse effects of water logging.

Among others, Special Secretary Rajesh Pravakar Patil, Director Municipal Administration Debasis Singh, Addl Secretary Rabindra Kumar Sahu & Binaya Das were present during the VC while all Municipal Commissioners & Executive Officers of ULBs connected through VC.
