Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday launched simultaneous searches at the various properties linked to Sanjay Kumar Behera, assistant engineer in the Rural Works Division of Odisha’s Sundargarh district following allegations of allegation of acquisition of disproportionate assets by the official.
The Vigilance sleuths unearthed huge mobile and immobile properties worth several lakhs linked to Behera and seized them. The searches are still underway.
The house searches are being conducted by four DSPs, 10 Inspectors, four ASIs, and other Odisha Vigilance staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh. The searches are being conducted at seven places in Sundargarh and Bhadrak districts including the following:
- A double-storeyed residential building of Behera located at Bhadrak Town in Bhadrak district.
- The residential house of Behera is located in his native village Bonth in the Bhadrak district.
- The office chamber of Behera located inside the office of SE, RW Division, Sundargarh.
- The residential house of his relative located at Sindola village under Tihidi police limits in Bhadrak.
- The office chamber of Behera at the office of AE, RW Sub-Division, Lephripada, where he was also in charge of the office.
- The government residential quarter of the Behera located at the RW Office campus, Lephripada, in Sundargarh.
During house searches so far, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of Behera and his family members:
- 1 double-storeyed building over a plinth area of 2,500 sqft at Jagannathpur in Bhadrak town.
- 1 single-storeyed building at his native village Bonth in Bhadrak district.
- A plot of land vide plot No.861/1728 under Khata No.290/797, Jagannatpur Mauza, Bhadrak Town.
- A piece of land vide plot No.530/3818 under Khata No.771/781, Mauza- Chandama, Jajpur.
- The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above building/plots is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
In addition to the immovable properties, the following items have been seized from Behera’s possession today:
- Bank, postal deposits, and insurance deposits of over Rs 1.61 crore.
- Gold weighing 200 gm.
- Two two-wheelers.
