Koraput: Acting on a tip-off, Koraput SP led a team of District Volunteer Force (DVF) and bomb disposal team of Koraput police and unearthed a huge dump of the outlawed Maoists in Ankadelli on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border.
The team recovered five bundles of codex wire (50 Kg), four bundles of detonators (100), 15 new walkie-talkies and a steel container as well as several electronic gadgets. This dump was buried by Maoist leaders Uday (a central committee member), Aruna (an SZC member) and Suresh (an SZC member) to target security forces in the Andhra-Odisha border (AOB) area with the help of local militia.
According to a press communiqué of the Koraput police, Odisha Police launched ‘Operation Khoj’ and ‘Operation Ghar Wapsi’ some time back to completely sanitise and demine the area. Several Maoists also laid down their arms and returned to the mainstream following the launch of ‘Operation Ghar Wapsi’ in the Malkangiri and Koraput districts of Odisha.
The dump was unearthed acting on the inputs provided by the surrendered Maoists, police said.
