**Berhampur (Ganjam):** You might have heard and seen mothers-in-law torturing their daughter-in-laws in both real and reel lives, but a 70-year-old mother-in-law has been chained by her daughters-in-law for simply creating disturbance at home.
According to reports, Lalita Swain (70) is being tied up with a chain to the trunk of a tree in front of her house at Khandarabandaha village under Nimina Panchayat of Aska block of Ganjam district.
She has been tied up with a chain for the last three months by her two daughters-in-law and grand children.
The elderly woman has two sons who are working outside the state.
Her family members say that she (Lalita) is creating disturbances like not eating meals in time and going out of home even at night and scolding them without any reasons.
Fearing she might go anywhere or meet with any accident, they have tied up her with a chain.
Seeing this, the villagers have also tried to convince the family members, but to no avail.
On being informed about the incident, the Block Development Officer (BDO) said the administration will speak to her kin and see what could be done.
Notably, Lalita is a beneficiary of old-age pension.
