Bhubaneswar: Bharatpur police under the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) arrested 24-year-old Pradyumna Patra and his two female associates, Roji Patra (19) and Ejita Bhuyan (22), on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his wife, Subhashree Nayak, by forcibly administering an anesthetic injection.
“On October 28, we received a report about the suspicious death of a 26-year-old woman in Bharatpur. A special investigation team was formed, as initial reports indicated suicide, though we suspected foul play,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra, briefing reporters.
According to Mishra, the investigation revealed it to be a planned murder, with all three accused conspiring in the crime. “An anesthetic injection was used in the murder, and it was forcibly administered to the deceased,” he added.
Further inquiry is ongoing to determine the motive. Mishra noted that after consulting the Medical Officer who conducted the post-mortem and collecting sufficient evidence pointing to murder, police arrested the three individuals connected with the crime.
