Bhubaneswar: A total of 17 cops from Odisha have been honoured with police medals on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced on Monday.
Four police officers received the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), while two others have been conferred with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Another 11 police officers from Odisha were awarded Medals for Meritorious Service.
In all, 954 police personnel from across the country have been awarded Police Medals on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day.
The President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) has been awarded to CRPF officer, Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) to 229, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) awarded to 82 and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) has been awarded to 642.
Police officers from Odisha selected for Police Medals:
Prahalad Himirika (Subedar), Santosh Kumar Guru (SI), Suneel Kumar Bariha (Commando), and Sujit Kumar Rana (CT) have been selected for Police Medal for Gallantry.
Sanjay Kumar (ADGP), and Rabindra Nath Satpathy (Additional Superintendent of Police have been selected for the Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
Dr. Deepak Kumar (IG of Police, Northern Range, Sambalpur), Ananta Charan Pati (Additional Superintendent of Police, Bhubaneswar), Benudhar Nayak, Additional Superintendent of Police, Cuttack), Rajib Lochan Panda (SDPO, Berhampur Town, Berhampur), Amita Tripathy (DSP Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division), Krushna Chandra Mohanta (CI, Havildar of Police), Peter Tirkey (Constable, Police Reserve Office, Deogarh), Gupta Prasad Mohanty (Assistant Sub Inspector of Police, Khordha), Dilip Kumar Nayak (Sub Inspector of Police – Armed, Sambalpur), Susanta Kumar Majhi (Constable, Bhubaneswar) and Umakanta Pradhan (Inspector Of Police, Bhubaneswar, Khordha) have been selected for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
