Bhubaneswar: I have been betrayed said BJD’s heavyweight minister and five-time MLA from Puri assembly segment, Maheswar Mohanty, after his defeat in recent elections.
Briefing mediapersons on Saturday, Mohanty listed out three reasons of his defeat, first his deep-rooted self-confidence, second his full confidence over voters and party workers and third the weak Congress candidate who was able to fetch only around 1800 votes.
“I have served the people for long and hope the newly-elected representative carries the work forward. I will wait and see what happens,” he added.
Mohanty, who fetched 46.71 per cent of the vote share of Puri assembly constituency by securing 72,739 votes was defeated by BJP’s Jayanta Kumar Sarangi who secured 49.28 per cent of the vote share i.e. 76,747 votes.
