Bolangir: Even as the massive raids on the liquor baron in Boudh are continuing, the Income Tax department and bank officials have expedited the counting of unaccounted recovered cash with additional manpower and machines.
“As many as 25 counting machines are engaged in the exercise. Around 40-50 staff have been roped in the counting work. We want to speed up the process with our existing resources. We received 176 bags filled with cash out of which counting of 40 bags containing Rs 46 crore has been completed in two days. The process is still continuing,” said Bhagat Behera, regional SBI manager, Bolangir.
“We have also kept additional machines on standby. Cash in the remaining 130 bags is to be counted. We target to finish the exercise within the next two days,” he added.
Engineers have been called from Sambalpur to repair the counting machines if any one of them develops a technical snag.
All the bank employees have been deployed for the counting work despite the holiday on the second Saturday.
A 20-member I-T analysis team reached Bolangir today from Hyderabad and started an investigation. The experts have investigated at Sudapada and Titilagarh manufacturing units. One team also visited the Bolangir SBI branch where recovered cash is being counted.
