Bhubaneswar: Income-Tax officials continued simultaneous raids at properties linked to the imposter couple Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty for the second day on Wednesday. While the I-T officials raided different properties of the couple in Bhubaneswar, Delhi and Jharkhand on Tuesday, they continued the searches at Hansita’s house today to investigate her source of income.
On Wednesday, the I-T officials raided Hansita’s father-in-law and senior Congress leader Seemanchal Acharya at Acharya Colony in Baliguda in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. Hansita married Seemanchal’s son Manoj Acharya in 2020. He was a Baliguda NAC councilor and also contested the Lok Sabha elections from Kandhamal seat on a Congress ticket in 2019.
On Tuesday, the Income Tax team raided Hansita’s dhaba and bar in Delhi and Anil’s ancestral house in Nayapally, his office in Mancheswar and his wife’s house near AIIMS.
It is worth mentioning that the duo, dubbed the “real-life Bunty-Babli,” is accused of impersonating relatives of PK Mishra, the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, amassing unaccounted wealth and evading taxes. Although Hansita and Anil were not married, they had been living in a high-profile apartment in Raghunathpur for a long time, posing as husband and wife.
Hansita and Anil’s modus operandi involved posing as the daughter and son-in-law of PK Mishra and deceiving individuals and businesses into believing they had high-level connections. This deception enabled them to accumulate a fortune running into crores of rupees.
