Bhubaneswar: The Income Tax (I-T) Department on Tuesday launched simultaneous raids at 12 locations across Bhubaneswar, Delhi, and Jharkhand, at properties linked to Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty.
The couple, dubbed the “real-life Bunty-Babli,” is accused of impersonating relatives of PK Mishra, the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, amassing unaccounted wealth and evading taxes.
The raids, which took place at the couple’s residence and office, revealed a trove of luxury assets, including high-end cars and significant cash reserves. I-T sleuths are scrutinizing financial transactions to trace the source of these assets.
Although Hansita and Anil were not married, they had been living in a high-profile apartment in Raghunathpur for a long time, posing as husband and wife.
Hansita and Anil’s modus operandi involved posing as the daughter and son-in-law of PK Mishra and deceiving individuals and businesses into believing they had high-level connections. This deception enabled them to accumulate a fortune running into crores of rupees.
Authorities are now focused on uncovering the full extent of the couple’s financial irregularities and determining the scale of tax evasion involved. The investigation is underway, with further details expected to emerge as officials continue their probe.
