If People Wish, I’ll Contest, Not Yet Taken Any Final Decision On Joining BJP: Baijayant Panda

**Cuttack: ** Amid the speculations that former Kendrapara MP Baijayant Jay Panda after quitting BJD is going to join BJP during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Odisha visit on December 24, the senior leader today made it clear that he has not yet made any decision on joining BJP or any other party and further said that he would contest the 2019 elections if the people want.

Jay Panda told this in his media reactions during a cricket tournament inauguration at Gopalpur in the district here.

Replying to a media query on his possible induction into BJP during PM Modi’s Odisha visit on December 24, pat came his reply, “Unless and until I have taken a final decision, there is no value discussing about the joining date.”

On being further prodded if he would fight election or not, he replied, “If the people wish, I’ll definitely contest.”

Panda also informed, “Tournament has been inaugurated here. It is organized every year here at Gopalpur and it is gaining momentum. My efforts are on to encourage sports. Ekalabya Award is being given away by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT) for the last 25 years to the upcoming sportsman and sportswoman of Odisha.”

On his first book being published, the former MP informed,”For the last 15-16 years, I have been writing columns on national and international level issues, also on Odisha. Whatever crops up in my mind, I outpour it through my write-ups. The book, going to be published, deals with our politics, economic affairs and our foreign policy, etc.”
