Berhampur (Ganjam): Golanthara police has slapped three new fraud cases against tainted Odisha cadre IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak and his son Akash following which the SDJM Court today permitted the police to produce the father-son duo tomorrow here.
Police sources said that the Pathaks have been booked in the three fraud cases earlier registered against Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi.
The sources also informed that a petition was filed today before the Berhampur SDJM Court appealing to allow Golanthara police to summon the father-son duo for further investigation into the three fraud cases following which the court allowed the police and the Pathaks are expected to be produced tomorrow.
While the father and his son were arrested last year by the State Vigilance and Crime Branch respectively,
Panigrahi’s arrest had followed the suit soon after on the charges of defrauding youths during the lockdown period in collusion with Akash.
The Gopalpur MLA has been arrested for allegedly duping unemployed youths on behalf of Akash on the pretext of providing jobs in the Tata Company as Akash allegedly claimed be a managing director (MD) of Tata Motors unit based at Pune in Maharashtra.
Notably, Vigilance Court has granted default bail to Abhay Pathak and his son Akash on January 27 as the State Vigilance failed to submit the charge-sheet duly.
