Cuttack: Three police officials sustained injuries after being attacked by cattle smugglers in Tigiria in Cuttack district on Friday night. The attack was pre-planned and well-organised, reports stated.
The Inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Tigiria police station, a Sub-Inspector (SI), and one Assistant Sub-Inspector (SI) have been injured in the attack. All three are undergoing treatment at Tigiria hospital.
The police team was patrolling the area on the basis of a tip-off about cattle smuggling. A cattle-laden container truck was intercepted, but the cops were attacked by the smugglers at Gopinathpur Chowk.
Subsequently, Athgarh SDPO conducted a raid in the area and detained two cattle smugglers. Further investigation into the incident is underway. The container was heading to Kolkata for illegal cattle trade, reports added.
