Bhubaneswar: The IIMCAA organised the annual alumni meet of the Odisha chapter “Connections 2023” in the capital city on Saturday.
While the Odisha chapter bagged the award for the best chapter this year, Rajashree Sahu won the ‘Reporter of the Year’ award in publishing, while Jyotismita Nayak won the ‘Indian Language Reporter of the Year’ in broadcasting at the IFFCO IIMCAA Awards 2023 held in Bhubaneswar. Both received a citation and cash award of Rs 50,000 each.
The IIFCO IIMCAA Awards ceremony is held every year – first in New Delhi and then in 30 other chapters in the country. The second award ceremony and alumni meet is generally held in Odisha – the largest and strongest chapter of the IIMC in the country, only after New Delhi. According to IIMCAA founding member Ritesh Verma, the Odisha Chapter is the strongest chapter of the IIMC Alumni Association.
The alumni association which started with one chapter in Delhi has managed to establish a pan-India presence with 30 national chapters and a global presence with four international chapters.
Along with Ritesh Verma, secretary of the IIMCAA central committee, eminent dignitaries including senior IAS office Suresh Kumar Vashishth, Dr Kitty Mukherjee, Sanjay Sahoo, Executive President of the central committee, Ajay Singh, a specialist in UNICEF, Laadli Media Award winner Sharda Lahangir, Ramnath Goenka Award winner Jajati Karan, National Award winner Dr Piyush Roy, Tapan Swain, Sobha Surin, Akshay Kumar Sahu, Pabitra Mohan Senapati, Pradipto Tripathi, Sangita Agarwal, Arunita Mahapatra, Sonali Mahapatra were also present.
Around 100 ex-IIMCians well-known in their respective fields graced the occasion.
