Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force of the State Crime Branch seized 8 illegal firearms from Chhendipada in Angul on Saturday. The STF acted on a tip off on sale of illegal firearms by criminals of Angul and Sambalpur districts
The STF and District police carried out a raid near Kerjang under Chhendipada police limits and arrested one person identified as Ratnakar Kalta of Sarapali in Sambalpur.
“Total 8 country-made firearms, seven live ammunition along with other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession,” a STF official said.
“The STF has initiated a drive against illegal firearms since 2020. Since then,64 guns and 98 live ammunition have been recovered by the force,” he added.
