Bhubaneswar: Police today conducted a joint raid and busted a local gun factory in Galapaju village under Mohan Police limits in Gajapati district.
A joint team of Mohana and Adaba police stations carried out the operation, which also led to the arrest of two individuals, Ghanashyam Pradhan and Harischandra Mallik, who were involved in the manufacturing and sale of illegal firearms.
According to Gajapati SP Jatindra Kumar Panda, the police seized 12 guns, various accessories, and equipment used in the manufacturing process. The guns were being supplied to Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal districts. Pradhan was allegedly using a hill on the outskirts of the village to manufacture the guns, which were then sold to buyers in the three districts.
The police recovered two guns from Harischandra Mallik, while 10 others were seized from the factory site. The accused were forwarded to court after a seizure list was prepared in the presence of witnesses.
