Keonjhar: Court of the Collector-cum-District Magistrate in Keonjhar on Saturday ordered attachment of properties of three mine owners who have not paid penalty for illegal mining activities.

Show cause notice had been issued earlier against 23 lessees of 31 mines to apprise the court of the circumstances under which they failed to pay fine of Rs 6350 crore as per the August 2017 directive of the Supreme Court.

A certificate case under the Odisha Public Demands Recovery (OPDR) Act had been registered at the court of the District Magistrate on May 24, 2018 to confiscate property of the defaulters.

Today there was hearing of three cases on which warrant have been issued to attach property of three defaulters, informed Keonjhar Collector Ashish Thakare.
