**Bhubaneswar: ** As the CAG report on general and social sector was tabled in Odisha Assembly yesterday and in the report it has been pointed out that only 3.70% rural households have been given connections, Odisha Panchayati Raj Minister Pradip Maharathy today claimed 46% Gram Panchayats have been supplied and assured action against the illegal connections.
In his media reactions, the Minister said, “3% in the rural belt is true. But it is being handled by the Panchayat. It is not being handled by the State Government who will take water. Illegal connections a lot.”
“Not 30%, we have now supplied pipe water in 46% of Gram Panchayats. 100% tube-well facility provided for drinking water purpose,” he claimed.
He further claimed, “Our target is to achieve above 60% pipe water supply in the rural region within the next two years.”
He defended, “The 3% legal connections responsibility goes to the Gram Panchayat. I’ll take action probing into it.”
