Cuttack: Excise officials have seized 1040 litres of illicit liquor worth Rs 2 lakh from an SUV near Barang in Cuttack district today and arrested two persons in this connection. Excise officials have also seized the SUV.
“While our staff were patrolling near Barang chhak in the early morning today they saw a suspicious-looking white Scorpio SUV coming from the opposite direction. While they tried to stop it, the vehicle reversed its direction and attempted to flee. Our staff chased the SUV and finally got hold of it. 1040 litres of liquor has been seized and two persons who are natives of Athagarh area have been arrested,” informed Debashish Patel, Excise Superintendent, Cuttack briefing reporters here today.
Patel said that the approximate value of the seized liquor is around Rs 2 lakh.
The liquor which came from the Athagarh area was meant for sale in Barang area, he added.
