Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, predicting heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph. The warning is in effect from October 10 to October 13, with different sets of districts expected to be affected on each day.
On October 10, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur at one or two places over Gajapati district. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
For October 11, the IMD has predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, and Mayurbhanj districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also expected in several other districts, including Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, and Koraput.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada and Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur and Rayagada”, read the IMD prediction meant for October 12.
As per IMD prediction for October 13, heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada. That apart, thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi and Nabarangapur.
