Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar on Monday said that some districts in northwestern Odisha may receive light rain today, while the weather in the remaining parts of the state will remain mostly dry.
The weather office has also issued a yellow warning for dense fog in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts. Moderate fog is likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj districts on Tuesday. However, the weather will remain dry across the entire state till January 5.
Meanwhile, the winter chill is likely to increase from tomorrow and continue for the next three days. The night temperature is likely to drop by 3°C-4°C and the capital city of Bhubaneswar is likely to record 13°C. Sundargarh and Jharsuguda are likely to experience severe cold nights.
A fresh low pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal on January 3 bringing in more rains in the coastal regions of Odisha. Farmers have been advised to lift their paddy crop dry it in the threshing floor.
