Bhubaneswar: Following a gruelling hot spell, some places in Odisha are likely to experience light rain for three days from Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its weather bulletin for the state on Sunday.
According to the MeT office, one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur and Bargarh districts are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershower on Tuesday. There is likely to be light rain in some places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Angul, Sonepur and Boudh on Wednesday.
On Thursday, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Bargarh.
Otherwise, the day temperature will continue to remain 2°C-3°C above normal for the next four to five days, the MeT office forecast.
Talcher and Sambalpur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 38.6°C on Saturday, while Bhubaneswar recorded 38.5°C followed by Jharsuguda and Sonepur at 38.4°C and Baripada, Boudh and Khurda at 38°C.
Balasore, Chandbali, Cuttack, Angul, Sundargarh, Hirakud, Balangir, Titlagarh, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal and Jagatsinghpur recorded maximum temperatures of 37°C or above on the day.
The day temperature (maximum temperature) in Bhubaneswar will hover around 38°C during the next six days.
