Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj today.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
“Maximum temperatures observed appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”
These were above normal at many places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 42.1 degrees was recorded at Sonepur and the lowest minimum temperature of 18 degrees was recorded at Malkangiri in the plains of Odisha.
“No large change in Maximum temperature (Day temperature) over the districts of Odisha during next 4-5 days. Bhubaneswar will witness partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate of rain/thunderstrom. Maximum and Minimum temperature will be around 40°C and 26°C respectively in the Capital City, the IMD stated.
