Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Sunday issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms for several places in 17 districts in Odisha for the next 24 hours.
According to the IMD regional office, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal districts from Sunday till Monday morning.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is forecast for a few places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput districts and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha during the period.
A thunderstorm and lightning warning has also been issued for one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri between April 10 morning and April 11 morning.
Meanwhile, the weather office has forecast light to moderate rain or thunderstorm for one or two places in coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts during the next 72 hours.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm may also occur at one or two places in nMayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri districts between April 11 morning and April 12 morning.
It is unlikely that there will be any major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during the next 2-3 days and a rise by 2°C-3̊°C thereafter is likely at a few places in Odisha.
