Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here has forecast moderate-to-heavy rainfall at many places in Odisha from Thursday due to fresh western disturbances. The effect of the western disturbances is likely to continue till March 26.
According to the IMD, there is a possibility of another western disturbance in India on March 23. From the night of March 23, many places will experience rainfall accompanied by hailstorms, thunderstorms and gusty surface wind.
The effect will reach Odisha by March 25 and several parts of Odisha will receive moderate rainfall on March 25. On the following day, the coastal regions of Odisha are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Some places in the state will receive rain along with lightning and thundershowers.
Odisha received rainfall with hailstorms owing to the western disturbances during the past few days. However, the effect of the western disturbance has decreased since Wednesday resulting in an increase in day temperature by 2°C to 3°C.
Meanwhile, the IMD’s forecast of another western disturbance has left the farmers in the state worried. They suffered huge crop losses just a few days back due to unseasonal rain and hailstorms. The farmers are worried that another western disturbance would devastate them completely.
