Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rain is likely in various parts of Odisha on Monday under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over southern Bangladesh and its adjoining areas that turned into a low pressure area on Sunday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the cyclonic circulation will intensify into a low pressure and move west-northwestward over Gangetic West Bengal, north Odisha and Jharkhand resulting in heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha today and tomorrow.
The weather office has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in four Odisha districts – Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda – on Monday. These districts are likely to experience around 7 cm to 20 cm of rain. Similarly, heavy rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm) may occur in Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Sambalpur districts today. The IMD has issued issued a yellow alert in these districts.
