Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds for several districts in Odisha over the next two days.
On July 9, Mayurbhanj district was put on orange alert, with heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms expected. Other districts, including Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, and Boudh, are under yellow alert, with heavy rain and thunderstorms predicted.
On July 10, districts such as Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nawarangpur, and Koraput are expected to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms, with a yellow warning issued.
“Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, and Dhenkanal.
Residents are advised to stay cautious and follow updates from local authorities.
