Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in at least 15 Odisha districts and said that the night temperature is likely rise to 23°C in the capital city during the next two days.
The weather office has warned of dense to very dense fog in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh and Jagatsinghpur districts till January 27 morning. Similarly, dense fog is likely to occur in Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal till January 28 morning.
Shallow to moderate fog may occur in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, and Jagatsinghpur till January 27 morning; and Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh during the subsequent 24 hours.
The IMD has further warned that visibility will be less than 50 meters in all these districts. Zero visibility is likely in some areas and advised people to exercise caution while driving. Currently, the fog is increasing due to the large amount of water vapor-rich air entering the state. Meanwhile, the weather in the state will remain mainly dry for the next seven days. But there will be no change in the temperature. It has been estimated that the day temperature will increase slightly in some districts. In the last 24 hours, dense fog has been visible in Balasore, Cuttack, Paradip, Gopalpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Chhatrapur, Dhenkanal and Khordha. Visibility was less than 50 meters in all these districts. Similarly, the minimum temperature of 8.4°C has been recorded in G Udayagiri.
