Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued a dense fog alert in 11 districts of the state, including Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Cuttack, Khurdha, Puri, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara till January 14 morning.
Meanwhile, dense fog occurred in various parts of the state, including the capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, on Monday reducing visibility to less than 50 meters affecting vehicular traffice.
The weather office has forecast a rise in night/minimum temperature by 2°C – 4°C across the state during the next two days and a subsequent drop by 2°C – 3°C during the following three days.
Currently, several places in the state are experiencing chilly weather conditions with the mercury plummeting below 10°C at many places. G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest in the last 24 hours at 5.2°C. The night temperature fell almost 4°C below normal in Angul.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also recorded below normal temperature of 13.2°C and 12.8°C respectively as against 13.6°C and 12.5°C the previous day.
It has also been predicted that there is no possibility of any significant change in the weather till January 16.
