Bhubaneswar: As many as 13 districts of Odisha are likely to experience severe hot and humid conditions on Monday, according to the the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The districts under alert are Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
Furthermore, a yellow warning has been issued for nine districts due to heatwave conditions, while 10 districts are expected to experience humid conditions on Tuesday.
According to the regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, daytime temperatures across Odisha are predicted to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next three days. These conditions are expected to prevail until May 15.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
Notably, severe heatwave conditions gripped Odisha on Sunday, with 19 cities across the state recording maximum temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius. Sambalpur topped the list with a scorching 43.2 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Titlagarh at 42.5 degrees Celsius and Balangir at 42 degrees Celsius.
