Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning for heatwave conditions, which are expected to prevail at many places in the state until March 17.
According to the midday weather bulletin, severe heatwave conditions are likely to persist at a few locations in the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Sonepur, and Boudh today.
In addition to the red warning, the IMD has issued an orange warning for heatwave conditions in the districts of Angul, Bolangir, and Sundargarh. A yellow warning has also been issued, indicating that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, and Gajapati.
The IMD has further predicted warm night conditions to prevail at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, and Boudh.
Hot and humid conditions are expected at one or two locations in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
On March 17, the IMD has again issued a red warning for heatwave conditions at many places, with severe heatwave conditions likely at a few locations in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Kalahandi.
An orange warning has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Boudh, and Bolangir.
A yellow warning is also in place for one or two locations in Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Mayurbhanj. Hot and humid conditions will likely affect one or two areas in Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
The IMD has also predicted warm night conditions in Balangir, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, and Boudh.
For March 18, the IMD has predicted orange and yellow warnings for heatwave conditions at one or two locations in the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, and Kalahandi.
On March 19, a yellow warning has been issued for heatwave conditions, which are likely to persist at one or two places in the districts of Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, and Sonepur.
