Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in 14 districts of Odisha for the next 48 hours. The alert has been issued for Kendrapara, Jajpur, Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Sundargarh districts.
On Monday morning, people in several parts of the state woke up to a blanket of fog which affected normal life. Visibility in several places was reduced to 50 meters making life difficult for drivers and commuters alike.
Dense fog will also prevail in several areas of the state on Tuesday, the IMD warned. A yellow warning has been issued for Kendrapara, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kalahandi and Kandhamal in this regard.
The office has attributed the occurrence of dense fog to the influx of a large amount of water vapor-laden air into the state.
The weather in the state will remain mainly dry for the next five days. However, there will be no change in the maximum and minimum temperatures. However, the mercury is likely to rise by 2°C-3°C during this period.
