Bhubaneswar: Odisha is very likely to experience a fresh wet spell under the influence of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal on Friday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy to heavy rain with thunder and lightning in 13 districts of the state on Thursday.
The districts that are likely to be affected include Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
According to the IMD, there may be heavy to very heavy rains in north Odisha due to a possible low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation is currently active over Myanmar. It will move west northwest and enter North Bay of Bengal by Friday. As a result, a low-pressure area will be formed on Friday.
Today, yellow warning has been issued to 14 districts for lightning to the coastal districts. The amount of rain will increase from tomorrow. Yellow alert has been issued to Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts due to heavy rain on Friday.
