Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning in six districts of Odisha today.
The districts that are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall today are Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
“Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam,” the IMD said in a Twitter post. “Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of south interior Odisha, Gajapati, Ganjam and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha,” it added.
According to the weather office, Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas are also likely to receive irregular rainfall till Monday.
During this monsoon season, Odisha has received 773.5 mm of rainfall. This is slightly below the normal rainfall of 845.8 mm, representing a 9% deficit. It’s worth noting that rainfall patterns have been quite diverse across the state during this time.
