IMD Issues Yellow Warning For 10 Odisha Districts, Forecasts Heavy Rains Till April 1

Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday forecasted another western disturbance in the state from Wednesday. Many places in the state are likely to receive heavy rain and experience thunderstorms from Tuesday till April 1 under the influence of the western disturbance.

According to the MeT office, this time the effect of the western disturbance will be most in the north-western part of India.

The western disturbance will bring fresh bouts of rain in several districts of Odisha. Light to moderate rain with wind speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts.

Thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur at one or two places in Puri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, and Keonjhar districts on Tuesday.

Heavy rain is also expected in some places in Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak and Kendrapara districts. Some places in these districts may receive 7 cm to 11 cm of rainfall.

Rain along with winds at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour is likely to hit Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda and Boudh districts along with the six coastal districts of Odisha.

A yellow warning has been issued for lightning and rain in 10 districts of the state – Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Nyagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.

The IMD has also forecast a thundershower with lightning for 13 districts of the state on March 30.

The IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate rain/thunderstorm in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The maximum and minimum temperature in Bhubaneswar is likely to be around 36°C and 22 °C respectively.
