Bhubaneswar: Light to moderate rain with thundershowers is likely to occur throughout Odisha today, according to a forecast by the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara may receive isolated heavy rainfall in one or two places.

Meanwhile, Angul, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, and Bolangir are expected to experience heavy rainfall activities, as per IMD reports.

The regional weather office has issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ for the aforementioned districts.

The Twin-city forecast predicts a maximum temperature of 32°C and a minimum of 27°C for Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, with chances of one to two spells of moderate rain and thundershowers.

The India Meteorological Department has cautioned fishermen operating on the Odisha coast about extreme weather conditions through its mid-day bulletin issued on Wednesday.

“Due to a strong monsoon current, squally weather with wind speeds reaching 45 kmph to 55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, is likely to prevail over most parts of the north Bay of Bengal and along and off the Odisha coast till July 26.” Read the notification.

Additionally, “rough to very rough sea conditions are likely to prevail over the north Bay of Bengal and along and off the Odisha coast till July 26. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the north Bay of Bengal and along and off the Odisha coast till July 26.”
