Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here predicted on Tuesday that north Odisha districts are likely to experience widespread rainfall during the next 24 hours, while moderate rain is likely at many places in south Odisha today.
The IMD issued a yellow alert for heavy to very heavy rain in 11 Odisha districts on Tuesday. These districts include Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Angul, Deogarh, and Keonjhar. At the same time, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Cuttack Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal districts are likely to experience light rain today.
According to the weather office, Southwest Monsoon is active across the state. In addition, due to the influence of the low pressure formed in the north Bay of Bengal, most parts of the state are experiencing heavy rain. The meteorological department has warned that there will be heavy rain in the state for two more days.
The low-pressure area is very likely to move toward north Madhya Pradesh during the next two days.
