Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Sunday forecasted the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal around July 4 resulting in heavy rainfall in Odisha and adjoining regions.
“A low-pressure area is likely to develop over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and coastal Odisha embedded in the monsoon trough around July 4. The system would subsequently move west-northwestwards over land,” the IMD said in a bulletin. The IMD has also issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in several Odisha districts.
According to the regional center of the IMD here, the day-wise forecast of weather conditions in Odisha is as below:
July 3: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi districts.
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur.
July 4: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts of Odisha.
July 5: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, and Nuapada districts.
