Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the possible formation of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which could bring rain to the state and provide respite from the heat. As a result, the weather is expected to change around June 15, marking the end of the heatwave.
According to IMD, under the influence of possible low-pressure, western and central Odisha are expected to experience maximum temperatures 3-4 degrees above normal in the next 10-12 days, with some areas potentially recording temperatures 5-8 degrees above normal.
Meanwhile, a heatwave alert has been issued for coastal districts in Odisha from tomorrow to June 10, with temperatures expected to soar and make the heat unbearable.
The IMD has also warned of increased humidity due to westerly winds, which could make the heat feel more oppressive. Adding to the woes, temperatures are expected to rise, with some areas likely to touch 42 degrees Celsius by June 7. However, weather experts predict that a low-pressure system may bring relief from the heat and humidity.
