IMD Predicts Thunderstorm In Most Places Across Odisha During Next 24 Hrs

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain or thunderstorms at most places across Odisha during the next 24 hours.

As many as 23 districts in Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning during the next 24 hours according to the IMD’s latest midday weather bulletin.

Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 50-60 kmph and hail are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur. Also, hail is likely at one or two places over the districts of Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, and Boudh.  Also, thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall are very likely (7cm to 11cm) at one or two places likely over the districts of Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur. The weather agency has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for the aforementioned districts.

Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Nuapada, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, and Sundargarh, and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha, during the same period.

The IMD has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert for the aforementioned districts.

According to the weatherman in Bhubaneswar and its neighbourhood, the sky will generally remain cloudy with a few spells of rain or thundershower during the next 24 hours.
